Care for Children facilitates orphaned children leaving institutions and becoming part of loving long-term foster families; a remarkable project that changes and saves lives. Care for Children is registered in China, Hong Kong, UK and the USA and has been working in partnership with the Chinese authorities since 1998.
Care for Children is shaped by the conviction that the long-term benefit to children of loving in a family of their own is of primary concern. This is achieved through the training of social workers and orphanage staff, based on robust professional standards, in a programme that can be replicated across the country. Today, Care for Children is active in over 180 orphanages in 30 provinces, and has placed thousands of children, who have spent their lives in China’s state and private orphanages, into foster homes.
